The festival season starts in Neustrelitz. Now in its eleventh year, the Immergut Festival attracts 5,000 visitors and a special line-up of hand-picked musicians to the heart of the Mecklenburg lakeland region on the last weekend in May.
A non-profit association in the idyllic town of Neustrelitz has provided an alternative format to Germany’s festival scene since 2000 – away from the madding crowds of the major events to a festival where you can enjoy music, literature and the arts without the feeling of claustrophobia. Immergut offers a holiday atmosphere and plenty of scope for fun. For one weekend, Neustrelitz becomes home to a community of indie pop, rock and electro fans, where homegrown musicians are neither tucked away on side stages nor relegated to peripheral slots. Idyllic lakes and forests provide the backdrop for a celebration of music, literature and the arts spread across three stages.
