Haldern Pop Festival

Haldern Pop Festival is one of the most musically innovative and on-trend festivals in the whole of Europe.

Every year, this small town on the Lower Rhine with a population of barely 6,000 welcomes just as many guests and gives an eclectic mix of musical acts the attention they deserve. People are the lifeblood of this festival, and they interact with each other the whole weekend long – playing music, listening to music or working behind the scenes. Hundreds of volunteers from the village and around the world help make this unique event possible. Today, we talk about one of the most highly acclaimed and best-established music festivals in Europe. ‘Haldern Pop’, a brand that is maturing all the time, stands for quality, independence and to a great extent for experimentation. Its unique character, which has developed independently over the years, provides the basis for a high level of trust invested in the event by international artists, festival-goers and the media.

The Haldern Pop Festival was founded in 1981 by 14 altar boys. What started out as a village party first took the form of a fully fledged live music festival in 1984, financed by 47 ‘shareholders’, each contributing the equivalent of 250 euros in start-up capital. The festival led to the founding of the Haldern Pop Recordings label in 2004. Five years later, a long-term plan to open a dedicated nerve centre in the heart of the village was realised. It features a bar for live entertainment and offices for the growing Haldern Pop family. The Haldern Pop Bar may be in the provinces for many, but for music business bigwigs it is on the way from Paris to Berlin and from Amsterdam to Cologne. The philosophy of offering great hospitality in return for acoustic concerts means that more and more up-and-coming bands are calling in at the village.

Borne from a passion for music and a desire to inspire that same passion in others, Haldern Pop has become a highly regarded and trustworthy concept that is today capturing the imagination of increasing numbers of people.
