MMK Museum of Modern Art
The MMK Museum of Modern Art opened in 1991 and is today one of Europe’s most important museums. The museum, designed by Vienna-based architect Hans Hollein, is a spectacular example of post-modern architecture, as well as an unmissable cultural stop on any visit to Frankfurt.
MMK’s collection includes distinguished works of European and American art from the 1960s right up to modern contemporary highlights from around the world. It also hosts regular special exhibitions, which are mounted within the context of the permanent collection and allow it to reappraise its stance as a museum and constantly refresh its perspective.
MMK’s core mission is to maintain a collection of contemporary art and to act as a conduit for its appreciation and understanding.
