Allianz Arena, Munich
The Allianz Arena designed by the architects Herzog & de Meuron is one of the most impressive stadiums in Europe.
Its roof and exterior skin are made from thousands of diamond-shaped air panels which glow red or blue depending of which of Munich’s two football teams – Bayern Munich or 1860 Munich – is playing at home. White is reserved for games involving Germany’s national team. Inside the stadium, three breathtakingly steep, wrap-around tiers accommodate 66,000 seats, all of which offer fantastic views of the action.
